Who is Lydia?

Lydia is a DONA International certified Birth Doula and

DONA International trained Postpartum Doula.

In 2008, I completed the DONA International approved Birth Doula Training course at Douglas College in New Westminster, B.C.

2011 – I established my Doula practice with the desire to provide Birth & Postpartum Doula support for moms and babies in the Heart of the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack), B.C., Canada.

August 2012 – I completed all the requirements to become a Certified Birth Doula through Doulas of North America. (www.dona.org).

March 2015 – I became a DONA International trained Postpartum Doula.  I received this designation for the DONA International approved Postpartum Doula course taken at Douglas College, New Westminster campus.

May 2016 – I successfully completed the CPR-C/AED program in accordance with the current ILCOR guideliens & Lifesaving society standards.

July 2017 – moved to Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.  I hope to continue ‘douling’ in my new community.

I am a mother of two daughters and one son & ‘Oma’ (grandmother) to two granddaughters and four grandsons.

As a mature Doula I’ve had the opportunity to work with expectant moms from various cultures and backgrounds.

Its been an honor to be Doula for several First Nations women.  I’ve listened carefully to their wishes around cultural rituals and have developed meaningful partnerships.  Its been a privilege to work together with these women and their families.
